Cuddle Cots for Andrew & Eric
Story
To commemorate Multiple Birth Awareness Week (13th - 20th of March), I am aiming to raise money to fund two Cuddle Cots in memory of my own twins, Andrew & Eric. This years MBAW theme is "leave no family behind" and in the spirit of that theme, I would like to make sure loss mumma's get to spend more time with their precious babies. It is a sad fact that multiple pregnancies carry more risk, and for some of us that risk can mean we don't get to take our precious babies home, and a Cuddle Cot (or two) would greatly benefit those families that have to go through that terrible loss. Of course, these Cuddle Cots will benefit every family suffering the loss of their baby, not just multiple mums.
A Cuddle Cot is a cooling system that has been designed to fit within a small cot. This effective system allows for babies who have passed away to remain with their families so that they are not required to be cooled in a mortuary environment. Cuddle Cots enable family members to travel to visit and meet the baby, siblings to meet one another and even gives parents the option of taking their baby home to lay in their own cot, in their own room or travel in their own car seat.
It’s about giving parents choices and reassuring them that they can spend as much time as they like with their baby, without the fear of the baby needing to be cooled in a traditional mortuary.
One Cuddle Cot system costs $6,000, so I have set my goal to $12,000 to reflect this - although I'm probably being very hopeful there. ANY small amount would help though, and even if I only fundraise $50 it's going to a damn good cause!
